HYPNOSIS OR HYPNOTHERAPY, IS ONE OF THE MOST STUDIED MODALITIES OF BEHAVIORAL CHANGE. HERE IS SOME OF THAT RESEARCHED EVIDENCE:

HYPNOSIS STUDY RESULTS FOR SMOKING CESSATION

39 out of 43 subjects who had hypnotic treatment procedure were clear from tobacco use at follow-up (from 6 – 36 month following treatment). This stands for 90.6% success rate achieved through hypnotic program.

University of Washington School of Medicine, Depts. of Anesthesiology and Rehabilitation Medicine, Int J Clin Exp Hypn. 2001 Jul;49(3):257-66. Barber J.

87 PERCENT FREED FROM TOBACCO USE WITH HYPNOSIS.

A field study of 186 male and female CMHC outpatients evaluated and employed hypnotherapy for smoking cessation. At 3-month follow-up, 86% of the men and 87% of the women recorded continued restraint from smoking through hypnosis.Performance by gender in a stop-smoking program combining hypnosis and aversion.

81 PERCENT REPORTED THEY HAD STOPPED SMOKING AFTER HYPNOSIS

Thirty smokers enrolled in an HMO were referred by their primary physician for treatment. Twenty-one patients returned after an initial consultation and received hypnosis for smoking cessation. At the end of treatment, 81% of those patients reported that they had stopped smoking, and 48% reported abstinence at 12 months post-treatment.

HYPNOSIS PATIENTS DOUBLE THEIR CHANCES TO CONTINUE SMOKE-FREE AFTER 24 MONTH.

Evaluation of 71 smokers revealed that after a 24-month follow up, patients that had hypnotic smoking cessation were twice as likely to remain smoke-free than those who quit solo.

HYPNOSIS IS MOST EFFICIENT, SAYS MAJOR STUDY EVER: OUTPERFORMING PATCH BY THREE TIMES AND WILLPOWER FIFTEEN TIMES.

Hypnosis is the most successful method to discontinue smoking, established through a major scientific evaluation of means of breaking the habit. Researchers combined outcome of more than 600 studies of 72,000-tobacco addicts from America and Europe to evaluate different methods of quitting. Hypnosis stood out showing over three times the success as nicotine substitution methods and 15 times more success than using self-cessation.

HYPNOSIS STUDY RESULTS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Hypnosis more than 30 Times as Effective for Weight Loss

Researchers investigated hypnosis in weight loss of 60 women, minimum 20% overweight. Procedure included group hypnosis with metaphors, ego strengthening, decision-making and motivation, as well as ideo-motor response in individual hypnosis sessions, and group hypnosis with maintenance suggestions. As a result, hypnosis group achieved approximately 17 lbs loss, while control group achieved 0.5 lbs on follow-up.

EVEN TWO YEARS LATER, HYPNOSIS SUBJECTS CONTINUED TO LOSE SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT

A group of 109 overweight people received a behavioral treatment with or without hypnosis. Both interventions resulted in significant weight reduction. The progress check-up at 8-month and 2-years, revealed that hypnosis recipients continued to lose significant weight, while those in the behavioral-treatment-only group showed minute or no change.

Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1985)

HYPNOSIS PARTICIPANTS SURPASSED OTHERS BY 90% LOOSING MORE WEIGHT AND KEEPING IT OFF.

Researchers investigated 18 studies matching cognitive-behavioral methods for example, relaxation training, guided imagery, self-monitoring, or goal setting with the same therapy powered by hypnosis. A group that received hypnosis continued to release weight 24 month post-treatment, maintaining 90% more success rate over the group employing other approaches.
